This is our first blog post and it's a test, dear family, so please pitch in and help if you're a seasoned blogger.
There are two ways to sign up at the bottom of the site. One as a subscriber, which I hope means you'll receive new blog posts. (We shall see how it goes.) The other is a contact form in case you'd like to share your info and communicate with me. Or, just email me at susan_mullineaux@yahoo.com. If you have a recipe of Mother's you'd like to share, please do!!
This cookbook website is intended for Family and Friends, so we're NOT trying to create lots of traffic on it or encourage tons of subscribers. Please do share it with your close friends who would enjoy Mother's story and/or her recipes. Please DO NOT post it on social media for hordes of people to flood my inbox (or I'll change the contact info to YOUR email address...ha, ha!). We're not creating a Facebook-type mass sharing device: It's an intimate affair - intended for a selective few. And, YOU are one of them!
We'll also use this blog as a way to share more recipes, like the Fondue recipe below. During this COVID winter, it feels like a good time to dust off those old fondue pots (or acquire one) and make some of this rich, delicious dish for the family to enjoy. I recommend putting a drip cloth between your table and your pot since there will be lots of cheese falling from the pot to your plate!
This is Mother's recipe she acquired after we visited the lovely small village of Gruyere, Switzerland. We hadn't intended on visiting it, but we could smell the gorgeous aroma of the cheese from miles away, So, we made a detour and stopped in. What a delightful find! Hint: DO NOT let the cheese get too hot - hard boil - after you add it to the white wine or it will turn into a unsightly and inedible blob. Keeping it gently stirred will help it stay lovely and pliable as you enjoy it. Have fun!!
